Where Everyday is a Vacation!

About Us

Pawsitively Paradise Dog Resort, LLC located in Lexington, Kentucky, is a cage-free dog daycare center designed for dogs to play all day in an indoor and outdoor environment, interacting and learning social skills with other dogs. Pawsitively Paradise was built with one goal in mind: to provide you and your dog with special attention and personalized unparalled service. Pawsitively Paradise has numerous amenities, including a doggie pool, separate areas for large and small dogs and a fun tropical decor. We are a full service dog care facility offering daycare, boarding, training and grooming.

Pawsitively Paradise Dog Resort was opened in the spring of 2008 by owner Cliff Pettyjohn along with the help of his wife Jennifer (and their beloved canine companions Monty and Theo). It was created out of the couple's love for dogs as well as their recognition for the need of a full-service upscale dog care facility. Their vision was to have a center where owners could leave their animals knowing that they and their dogs would receive one-on-one service beyond compare. Pawsitively Paradise Dog Resort has created a unique and intimate setting in which dogs and their owners are 100% comfortable and worry-free whether staying for a day of play, or a week of doggie vacation!

I would and do recommend Pawsitely Paradise to everyone.  I cannot say enough about how wonderful the daycare is and how much my dogs love it!  They are so excited to get there and so tired when they get home.  Cliff, Jennifer and Debbie are so good to my dogs, I feel guilty when I DON"T take them to PP to play.  I am completely comfortable taking my dogs there for daycare and/or boarding.  Thank you PP, we love you!!

Without hesitation, Luey, our Bernese Mountain Dog felt right at home at Pawsitively Paradise. Just pulling in the parking lot and mentioning where he is causes lots of tail wagging and whining to immediately go in. The staff is fantastic, very caring and accommodating. They made me feel like I was leaving Luey at his second home. The best things is picking Luey up clean, fresh and fluffy. He never has that "kennel smell" like he did at his other boarding place... a nice touch for a big, burley pooch! Thanks Pawsitively Paradise.

Pawsitively Paradise Dog Resort has been a wonderful 'home away from home' for our dogs.  The staff are friendly and pay close attention to detail when it comes to caring for our dogs.  It is a very welcoming environment and there is much for our dogs to explore and enjoy.  We know that it is a safe place and our dogs receive the best care there.  There's simply no other place in Lexington like it.

Yancey loves his weekly visits to Pawsitively Paradise.  He is a high energy dog so the extra attention he gets during his visits really goes a long way in keeping him happy.  He enjoys running and romping with his daycare buddies, his tail is always wagging when I pick him up and he comes home healthy and worn out from a great day of play!

Trigger loves going to daycare at Pawsitively Paradise and staying overnight too! He has great four-legged friends to play with, and he loves the staff! The wonderful personal attention that Trigger receives throughout the day makes all the difference. I know that Trigger is getting the exercise, attention and stimulation that he needs as an active dog breed. The boarding facilities at Pawitively Paradise truly have a resort feel - the spacious rooms, dimmed lighting and soothing music, the dogs get a mini vacation. The free bath with a qualifying stay is an added bonus for me (one less thing to worry about when I get home from a trip).

We've boarded our Pug Pedro at many kennels over the years and Pawsitively Paradise is Pawsitively the best.  The friendly staff and warm surroundings made Pedro feel at home right away.
It's a great place!

I am not in the habit of leaving my 3 dogs when I go out of town.  They usually go everywhere - camping, grocery shopping, even trips to Dairy Queen with me.  I have a 6 yr old chow, 8 yr old Australian Shepherd and a 4 year old Corgi.  My chow has hip dysplasia and a thyroid condition and my aussie has arthritis.  However, an occasion came up when I had no choice but to leave them at home.  Upon calling my dog sitter and finding she was not available I began to panic.  Who can I trust as they are like my children.  Pawsitively Paradise Dog Resort is a member of Genesis Trade Exchange and I had heard good things so I decided to check them out.  I called and spoke to a pleasant sounding lady named Debbie.  She answered every question I asked plus a lot more information I hadn't even thought to ask.  She invited me to come by and see the facilities.  The private rooms and crates were spacious, air conditioned and clean.  I was glad they didn't have to stay in a kennel all the time.  It even smelled good inside.  Not like a kennel usually smells.  Plus they play music in all the rooms for the animals.  (I leave the TV on when I go to work.)  That made me happy too.  I was very pleased with the play area and fresh water being available at all times.  Debbie told me I had to have a kennel cough shot for the dogs so I made arrangements to take them all to the vet on Friday (the day I was leaving).  That is when catastrophe struck.  My chow and aussie had skin infections, my corgi had a ear infection and and needed special bathes and meds 4 times a day.  Here we went in for the 4 day stay looking like we just bought out a drug store.  I truly didn't think that  Debbie would  even let them stay.  When we arrived Cliff Pettyjohn (the owner) was there.   Most people are not really happy to take care of Chows in general but there was not problem after he met her.  I can't tell you how accommodating and understanding Cliff and Debbie were about all of our "problems".  My dogs even liked them.  Their tails were wagging and they were jumping around when Cliff got on his knees to play with them. They understood it was not easy for me to leave "my girls" especially being under the weather.  They are kind, compassionate people and listened to all my concerns and didn't gripe about anything.  They made me feel at ease about going away.  They didn't even complain about the picky diet of my chow.  She likes milk poured on her food.  When I returned on Monday to pick them up they had all been bathed and looked great.  They were happy to see me for sure but they went running back to Cliff, Debbie and Jennifer.  I highly recommend them and definitely will use Pawsitively Paradise Dog Resort the next time I can't take them with me.  It was great to know they were safe and not to worry about them while I was gone.  Thanks guys!

Since beginning daycare once a week Blue has become much easier to manage in public.  He has also better behaved with just us – less jumping.  It’s great to get off work and pick him up – he always has a big smile on his face. After a hard day playing at day care he lets us sleep in the next day…nice to sleep in!  I love that you trim nails…he is the exorcist if I try to do it.  Overall he is better behaved and plays better with others – he used to just watch, wasn’t much for playing with other dogs…now he loves it.
